Below are some links & a book that may be helpful as a supplement to counseling / counselling. These links will give you information, definitions and understanding of some of the problems, influences, effects & consequences of being involved with various false / counterfeit / misleading spiritual systems.

    This is of course based on the Christian belief that what Jesus & the bible have to say is true, & weighing out all other beliefs accordingly. Most religions of course take the same or a similar stance to spirituality systems other than their own. The exception to this would be those religions with the wishful, fanciful teaching that all paths lead to God no matter how contradictory the beliefs & teachings are (through sincerity being enough, reincarnation, etc.). If only the latter were true. It is a buyer beware situation that we all have to sort through for ourselves. Unfortunately the stakes of our choices in this could not be higher.

     This is not to say there is no truth in other spiritual beliefs. Other religions would be in a pretty sorry state if their teachings were not based on at least some spiritual, emotional & psychological truths. I believe that God loves us all & does reveal truth & aspects of His character to truly seeking hearts no matter what religion or spiritual system we're in. He is interested in drawing more of His nature / character / image out of us as we seek Him & follow our consciences even if we're in a spiritual system of beliefs that ultimately is leading us down the wrong road. I believe that God multi-tasks on many different levels at the same time, honoring our seeking of Him, while at the same time trying to draw us out of spiritual systems that are ultimately erroneous & are building error into our lives in at least some ways, as well as not leading us to eternity in His presence (heaven) which Christians believe is based on the cross of Jesus (as God come to earth) alone.
